ABOUT YOGA THERAPY

THE INTERSECTION OF ANCIENT WISDOM, MODERN PSYCHOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE

Yoga is the combination of many practices that enhance overall well-being: movement, breath work, philosophy and meditation. In my opinion Yoga is a science that guides us in the art of living.

Yoga Therapy takes these wellbeing practices to a deeper and more therapeutic level to give us insight on what we are feeling, why it is impacting our life and how to move forward.

Because we work with the physical, mental and emotional bodies, it's a modality that can be helpful for anyone who is struggling with their life circumstances;  sleep disorders, eating disorders, general anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, chronic illness, concussion rehabilitation, somatic issues, and post-traumatic stress disorders. It is even used as an adjunct therapy in hospitals during chemotherapy treatments. It is suitable for any body, at any age of any ability.

Private Yoga Therapy sessions are tailored to the individual, and address one or more of these aspects.

Group Yoga Therapy Programs are more supportive than general yoga classes, as they offer smaller class sizes, theme-based enquiry, supportive circles in which to listen and share, and life mentoring support/guidance in between classes.

A thorough body of research and control group studies proves that a blend of ancient yogic wisdom and modern psychology has healing benefits for a host of ailments, taking our overwhelmed stress-riddled bodies and restoring them to harmony and well-being.

THE PHOENIX RISING METHOD

Bridging the gap between yoga and talk therapy

The Phoenix Rising Method is a somatic therapy developed by Michael Lee. This method was deeply informed by Lee's experience living and practicing yoga at the Kripalu Yoga Ashram in the 1980s. Phoenix Rising practitioners use movement, breathing, and compassionate listening to support you in reconnecting to your truth. We believe that the body is an interconnected system that has great wisdom to heal itself, and that with our support, you will learn to hear what it is asking for.
